    We started our Native Plant Sales in 2009 and we continue this tradition of creating a venue for acquiring Native Plants and fostering Wildlife Habitat. We will have several native plant vendors including Thompson's Garden, Naturescapes, and Florabundance Gardens. As always free educational programming, food and drink will be provided.

    Join us for this “Members Only” plant walk at Altama Plantation WMA. Acquired in 2015 by the Georgia Dept. of Natural Resources this conservation property has been undergoing ecological restoration through the application of prescribed fire and the management of the existing timber. There are many beautiful fall blooming plant that call this property home. We will explore them in a natural setting as well as check out the native plant pollinator garden that GA DNR installed in 2016 in a 1930’s era formal garden.

    Join us on this “Members Only” plant walk to the sandhills habitats at Townsend Wildlife Management Area. This unique ecosystem is dominated by Longleaf pine and scrub oaks. This area is under active restoration since acquisition by the GA Dept. of Natural resources about 10 years ago. This area provides critical habitat for gopher tortoises and the rare Radford’s Mint. We will explore the other fall flowering species that call this area home.

    This Members Only field trip will explore the rare Old Growth stand of Longleaf Pines at Moody Forest. Acquired in 2000 this Preserve is 4,426 acres of wilderness jointly managed by the GA Dept. of Natural Resources and The Nature Conservancy. This special place is critical habitat for many rare species including the Red-cockaded woodpecker, the Gopher tortoise, Eastern indigo snake, and Swainson’s warbler. The proper application of prescribed fire has been crucial in maintain this rare habitat.

    This Members Only field trip will explore this truly unique natural feature. A roaring waterfall rushing over rock ledges, cave-like crevices and 30-foot-high cliffs aren’t what normally come to mind when you think about Georgia’s coastal plain, but Broxton Rocks Preserve isn’t just any place.

    Unique elements make it both a sought-after place to experience and a fragile environment in need of protection and conservation. The Nature Conservancy’s work preserves the site for the future while enabling more people to experience its magic today.
